Additional Required Course on Research Methodologies in Health Professions Education (ARC-R)
The course focuses on research methodologies most applicable in Health Profession Education (HPE) and development of a research proposal. The aim of this course is to provide students an in-depth background for planning, conducting and evaluating quantitative and qualitative research relevant to Health Professions Education.

7.0 Continuing Education (CE) Credits from 350 hours of course study
ARC-R is a core course for the Master of Health Professions Education (MHPE) , however it is also open as a standalone course to all health care professionals in Medicine, Nursing, Dentistry and Allied Health.
Candidates with proven interest/responsibility in HPE and at least two years teaching experience will be preferred. Selection is purely merit based. Acceptance in the course will be based on the number of seats available.

Introductory Short Course in Health professions Education (ISC-HPE)
This is a twelve-week course from January 04 to March 25, 2016.
Two-week part-time pre-reading.
Two-week full-time intensive face-to-face on site component.
Eight-week part-time independent study and written assignment completion.
By the end of the course the students will be able to:
Identify a researchable problem in HPE
Identify relevant sources for literature review
Use End Note for creating library and referencing
Critically review and use relevant literature
Frame appropriate research questions, objectives and hypotheses (where required)
Identify, select and justify the use of appropriate methods
Identify appropriate methods for data collection and data analyses
Use SPSS for quantitative data analysis
Address the ethical issues anticipated in the research project
Appreciate the importance of intellectual/academic rigor in research
Develop educational research proposals using the standard research framework
The assessment in ARC-Research Methodologies in HPE is divided into the following two components which have to be passed separately.
Continuous Assessment during face-to-face component comprising of individual and group assignments/presentations and two end-of-the-course assessments.
Independent Study and Written Assignment requiring a research proposal of about 2000 – 3000 words spending a minimum of 200 hours over a period of eight weeks.
The course is highly participatory, offered through interactive plenaries, hands-on individual and small group activities and presentations. Mid-course feedback is provided.
