Aga Khan University's (AKU) Department of Community Health Sciences (CHS) is the preeminent public health institution in the country. The vision of the Chancellor set the direction for the University to take a lead in community development and the creation of an innovative curriculum that emphasises a balance between tertiary care and population health. CHS has taken a major role in that development. Over the past three decades, CHS has led national development of primary health care, public health practice, health systems development and the evidence based approach at the University and in the nation.
