Educational Programmes
The educational programmes of the Department of Community Health Sciences are deeply rooted in the vision and mission of the Aga Khan University and are steered by a continuing commitment of improving lives through a robust curriculum anchored in knowledge, service, and leadership. At the heart of our teaching pedagogies is the belief that education should not only build intellectual excellence but also nurture compassion, ethical responsibility, and a genuine commitment to advancing community wellbeing. Through rigorous scholarship, critical thinking, and real-world engagement, we prepare our graduates to respond thoughtfully and effectively to the complex health challenges faced by populations locally and globally. Our academic programmes are aligned with international standards and are accredited by the Agency for Public Health Education Accreditation (APHEA) reflecting our dedication to quality, innovation, and excellence in public health education. The Department offers five graduate programmes, MSc in Epidemiology and Biostatistics, MSc in Health Policy and Management, MSc in Health Data Science, MS Public Health and MSc in Healthcare Management. Each of these programmes are specifically designed to cultivate discipline specific analytical expertise, refine and hone leadership skills enabling graduates to make meaningful and sustained contributions to research, policy, and practice. The Department also promotes lifelong learning and professional growth through a diverse range of short courses under the Continuing Education Programme, a comprehensive four-year Community Medicine Residency, and active engagement in the Population and Public Health stream of the PhD in Health Sciences collectively strengthening the capacity of individuals and health systems to serve communities with knowledge, empathy, and impact.
