A major challenge in the health sector in Pakistan and many low- and middle-income countries (LMICs) has been the capacity to effectively implement evidence informed policies to positively impact the lives of common people. An underlying reason, that has not received adequate attention, is the inadequate management capacity of hospital and health sector managers at all tiers of the health system. Lack of management capacity is among the most important factors that impedes effective implementation of hospital care and public health programmes.

The Aga Khan University, Karachi offers several training programs in health system management and with WHO EMRO, has developed a short 10 days online course for hospital managers to respond to this challenge.
