Grants Review Committee​

Competitive intramural grants have been offered to faculty for more than 15 years to assist them in obtaining preliminary data which would support extramural grant applications.​URC Cycle.PNG

The Grants Review Committee (GRC) receives and reviews proposals four times a year for funding from the University's unrestricted endowment for research – utilising external reviewers as required – from the viewpoint of:

  • Quality of the proposal as evident from clarity of objectives and rationale, well-justified research methods including sampling techniques and analysis; 

  • Intrinsic value and significance of the research; 

  • Relevance of the study to the context; 

  • Potential to impact on the society and community; 

  • A well-defined budget in accordance with the URC guidelines.

A complete application must be submitted including the following:

a) Grant proposal;
b) Cover sheet;
c) Grant application form;
d) Checklist and clearance;
e) Budget;
f) Funding history;
g) Any other supporting document(s) as appropriate.
