PakSurg: National Research Collaborative

PakSurg is the first-ever national trainee-led surgical research collaborative in Pakistan. It was established by the Surgery Interest Group at the Aga Khan University to promote national coordination in surgical research. Supported by the Department of Surgery and Center for Global Surgical Care at the Aga Khan University, PakSurg aims to initiate research studies to enhance national surgical research output via multi-center collaborations. This will allow PakSurg to generate prospective, standardized, and nationally comparable data to inform evidence-based surgical care and improve outcomes for patients undergoing surgery in Pakistan.

Projects:

Our projects are open to any hospital in Pakistan. Mini-teams of three to five collaborators collect data on their patients for a defined period within the study time frame and enter it into our secure, Redcap-based project servers. All contributors are named as authors on publications arising from the study.
