Cardiac Surgery

Residency training in Cardiothoracic Surgery has been reviewed and approved by the Postgraduate Medical Education Committee of Aga Khan University and commenced in January 2010. The programme is designed to develop fully trained cardiac surgeons who would be able to complete the requirements for FCPS in cardiothoracic surgery.

Training at AKU in this discipline offers a unique experience in adult cardiac surgery with exposure to congenital cardiothoracic surgery and thoracic surgery. Facilities for comprehensive management of cardiac trauma exist at the University Hospital.
