The World Health Organization awarded Rs 3.8 Million to the Centre for Patient Safety to train personnel from identified hospitals as well as conduct an assessment of adverse events and patient safety problems in hospitals across Pakistan. To conduct this research, subject matter experts were identified from hospitals to collect data and supervise. The team included quality and patient safety experts, public health experts, researchers, and clinical faculty.

The first-of-its-kind research was presented by Dr Asad Latif and attended by personnel from the Government of Pakistan, the Ministry of Health, and WHO along with hospital representatives, senior researchers, and patient safety experts who applauded the team for their contribution towards enhancing patient safety and reducing patient harm by protecting patients from errors, injuries, and infections.
