Pain Medicine

Aga Khan University is one of the leading healthcare institutions in Pakistan with an international reputation for excellence in clinical care, teaching, and research. Department of Anaesthesiology took the initiative to start a Pain fellowship in 2005 after recognizing an ever-increasing burden of pain disease in the country and a paucity of trained personnel. Over the years, this program has evolved into an established, highly sought-after, fellowship that provides a multidisciplinary, sub-specialty-level experience for the management of acute, chronic pain and cancer pain. The program is designed to provide broad exposure to pain medicine in a variety of circumstances so that the graduates are well-trained and can practice independently upon completion of their training. After accreditation with CPSP in 2020, this training program was modified according to CPSP requirements (two years) in order to get an FCPS Pain Medicine qualification and practice independently as a qualified pain physician.
