Fellowships
Interventional Radiology
It is a sub-specialty of radiology which deals with diagnostic non-cardiac angiographic procedures and vascular as well as nonvascular interventional procedures. These are the minimally invasive procedures which have either replaced the need for surgery, adjuvant to surgery or the sole way of treatment e.g. treatment of liver cancers. At AKU, the facility has highly experienced IR faculty and state of the art equipment.
The fellowship programme was introduced in November 2005 and is the first ever fellowship programme in the country in the field of radiology. It has been designed to provide comprehensive, full-time training and supervised experience in the evaluation and management of patients requiring imaging guided diagnostic vascular and interventional procedures. It is a structured programme with comprehensive curriculum to meet with.
