Professor Charles Docherty, Director
Professor Docherty studied nursing at Glasgow Royal Infirmary, in the college made famous by its founder, Rebecca Strong, a student of Florence Nightingale. While being a charge nurse in ICU, he obtained both Masters of Nursing and PhD from Glasgow University. Doctoral studies focused on the use of multimedia as a means of helping mentors assess students’ clinical skills.

Mr Perwez Hashmi, Simulation Administration Advisor
Mr Hashmi is a Simulation Administration Advisor at CIME. He is responsible for the overall administrative and operational functions of the centre. He has completed his Bachelor of Law,
MA in Economics and MA in International Relations from the University of
Karachi, MBA from Baqai Medical University and M.Phil in Management
Sciences from KASB Institute of Technology. He is currently pursuing a
PhD in Management Sciences. He joined AKU in 2000 and has over 30 years of professional experience.
Mr Numair Shahpur, Simulation Technical Advisor
Mr Numair holds a bachelor degree in electronics engineering from PAF Karachi Institute of Economics and Technology. He has a diverse experience in IT infrastructure and has been associated with the university since 2011. His prime responsibility at the centre is to ensure smooth operations of IT and AV technologies. He has a passion for technology that started at an early age, he utilizes this curiosity for exploring technology into solving problems and bringing forth new ideas. He is a keen follower of football and also expresses interest in other sports and photography.
Dr Mehak Rajani, Simulation Educational Advisor
Dr Mehak is an MBBS graduate from Dow Medical College. Her journey in AKUH started with house job in 2016 and then she joined CIME in 2018. She has a remarkable academic profile including research electives at The Aga Khan University and Neuro-medicine electives from The University of Toronto, Canada. She has published in international journals and represented CIME at international level in SIMGHOSTS Conference. She specializes in design, development, documentation and execution of simulation-based courses. She aspires to improve patient safety and efficiency in patient care through promoting simulation-based clinical training in developing countries.
Mr Naveed Muhammad, Technical Analyst
Mr Naveed holds a bachelor degree in electronic engineering from Sir Syed University of Engineering and Technology. He provides technical support to CIME and is responsible for ensuring that the technology is up to date and working reliably.
He has over five years of experience working in Home Automation. He has a keen interest in exploring new technologies. He enjoys spending time with his friends and family.
Mr Jalal Uddin, Technical Analyst
Mr Jalal is a biomedical and healthcare simulation engineer. He holds a Bachelor of Science in biomedical engineering from Sir Syed University of Engineering and Technology. He provides technical support in simulation-based activities. He is also responsible for the maintenance of simulators and biomedical equipment.
He has been associated with AKU since 2015 and has expertise in the maintenance of critical and imaging equipment.

Mr Sarmad M. Soomar, Simulation Educational Analyst
Mr Sarmad studied nursing at The Aga Khan University, Pakistan and is currently a Fellow of Sexual and Reproductive Health & Rights at Rise Up by Public Health Institute of California. His work and research experiences are related to nursing care, reproductive health, mental health and education.
He joined CIME in 2019 and works with various teams to develop curricula, design workshops, evaluate the quality of workshops, liaise with faculty to integrate clinical practice-based knowledge to improve the outcomes of various simulation-based activities.

Ms Rahina Inayat, Simulation Educational Analyst
Ms
Rahina Inayat is an Alumnus from AKU’s BScN Programme. She started her
professional career in 2018 as a Trainee Nurse Intern (TNI) at AKUH,
where she got an opportunity to serve as a TNI in Gilgit Baltistan and Chitral
for three months. Later in 2019, she continued her services as an RN in
Cardiac-ICU for two more years. Currently she is pursuing her Master’s
degree in Health and Hospital Management. She joined CIME in
December 2020 and is working with the Education Team to design,
implement and evaluate innovative simulation-based programmes for
medical, nursing and inter-professional groups.

Ms Farah Khalid, Senior Research Assistant
Ms Farah holds a bachelor degree in Medical Technology from Dow University of Health and Sciences and is currently pursuing a Master's of Public Health from Shaheed Zulfikar Ali Bhutto Institute of Science and Technology (SZABIST).
She provides research related support to our colleagues at the centre. She joined the CIME team in November 2019. She has over three years of professional experience in research writing and data analysis.
Mr Burhan Ali, Administrative Analyst
Mr Burhan holds a Master's degree in Human Resource Management from Dadabhoy Institute of Higher Education (DIHE) & is currently pursuing a Master' degree in Management Sciences from Shaheed Zulfikar Ali Bhutto Institute of Science and Technology (SZABIST).
Reporting to the Administration Advisor Simulation, he is responsible for Operational Management of the centre. His responsibilities also include Budgeting and Costing, Report Writing, and Data Management.
Mr Ghulam Nabi, Marketing and Communications Analyst
Mr Nabi leads the marketing initiatives to spread the word about CIME to people around the world. He oversees the CIME's media, marketing and communications activities and manages CIME official website, intranet portal and social media sites.
He is also involved in organising and coordinating simulation-based programmes. He holds a Master's degree in Marketing from Institute of Business Management (IoBM) and has been associated with the university since 2012.
Mr Talha Ahmed Khan, Technical Analyst
Mr
Talha holds a bachelor degree in computer engineering from Sir Syed
University of Engineering and Technology. He is involved in organising
and coordinating simulation-based programmes and provides technical
support in educational activities.
He is also responsible for
equipment management. He has a keen interest in exploring new
technologies in the healthcare industry. He enjoys travelling and spending
time with his family.
Mr Darab Nisar Ahmed, Technical Analyst
Mr Darab completed a Bachelor degree in Commerce from the University of Karachi and is currently pursuing a Bachelor of Sciences in Software Engineering degree from ILMA University.
He provides technical support in educational activities at the centre. He has been associated with the university since 2015.
Ms Nazleen Punjwani, Secretary to the Director
Ms Nazleen holds a Master's degree in economics from the University of Karachi. She has been working with the Aga Khan University Hospital at different administrative positions since 2008.
She joined CIME in 2016, providing secretarial and administrative support to the Director's office. She is a joyful person among the CIME team.
Mr Rehman Baloch, Simulation Assistant
Mr Rehman oversees the CIME equipment management and provides administrative support to Simulation Labs. He has over five years of professional experience. Before joining the CIME team, he worked as a volunteer in the Human Resource department where he honed his skills in office operations and event management.
In his free time, he enjoys spending time with his family, watching movies and hanging out with his friends.
Mr Suneel Kumar, Simulation Assistant
Mr Suneel holds a bachelor degree in Arts from Allama Iqbal Open University. He is involved in organising and coordinating nursing activities, simulation-based courses and workshops. He has over ten years of professional experience.
Before joining the CIME team, he worked as an Assistant in Skills Lab, School of Nursing and Midwifery, AKU, where he honed his skills in office operations and equipment management.
Mr Aashir Rauf, Simulation Assistant
Mr Aashir provides administrative and logistics support in our educational programmes, workshops and courses. He is currently pursuing a bachelor degree in Commerce from the University of Karachi. He joined the centre in November 2019.
Before joining the CIME team, he worked as an administrative assistant in UEC (Pvt) Ltd.
