Professor Docherty studied nursing at Glasgow Royal Infirmary, in the college made famous by its founder, Rebecca Strong, a student of Florence Nightingale. While being a charge nurse in ICU, he obtained both Masters of Nursing and PhD from Glasgow University. Doctoral studies focused on the use of multimedia as a means of helping mentors assess students’ clinical skills.

Mr Perwez Hashmi, Manager

Mr Perwez Hashmi is the Manager at the Centre for Innovation in Medical Education (CIME) at the Aga Khan University. He is also Secretary of CIME Marketing Committee and the Committee of Financial Sustainability CIME. He is currently pursuing a PhD in Management Sciences. He has over 30 years of professional experience.

Mr Numair Shahpur, Assistant Manager

Mr Numair holds a bachelor degree in electronics engineering from PAF Karachi Institute of Economics and Technology. He has a diverse experience in IT infrastructure and has been associated with the university since 2011. His prime responsibility at the centre is to ensure smooth operations of IT and AV technologies. He​ has a passion for technology that started at an early age, he utilize this curiosity for exploring technology into solving problems and bringing forth new ideas. He is a keen follower of football and also expresses interest in other sports and photography.​

Mr Naveed holds a bachelor degree in electronic engineering from Sir Syed University of Engineering and Technology. He provides technical support to CIME and is responsible for ensuring that the technology is up to date and working reliably.

He has over five years of experience working in Home Automation. He has a keen interest in exploring new technologies. He enjoys spending time with his friends and family.

Mr Saleem S. Pirani, Technical Specialist

Mr Saleem​ is serving CIME in his role of technical specialists to support and maintain high and medium fidelity simulators. He holds an Hons Degree in Electronics Technology with ​several IT certifications and number of international certified technical trainings on medical imaging equipment, patient care and surgical simulators. In addition to this, he also serves as a member of CIME Equipment Committee.


 
 

Picture6.jpgMr Jalal Uddin, Engineer

Mr Jalal is a biomedical and healthcare simulation engineer. He holds a Bachelor of Science in biomedical engineering from Sir Syed University of Engineering and Technology. He provides technical support in simulation-based activities. He is also responsible for the maintenance of simulators and biomedical equipment.

He has been associated with AKU since 2015. He has expertise in maintenance of critical and imaging equipment.

Dr Maria Fatima Ali, Teaching Associate

Dr Maria holds a bachelor’s degree in Dentistry from Jinnah Medical and Dental College. Currently, she is pursuing an M.Phil. Degree in Clinical Microbiology and Immunology from Dadabhoy Institute of Higher Education (DIHE). She had previously been working as a Research Associate in the field of Regenerative Medicine, along with which she also holds nearly two years of teaching experience. She joined CIME in June 2018 as a Teaching Associate, where she assists in the generation, organisation and implementation of courses, programmes, workshops and simulation activities.​​​


Picture6.jpgDr Mehak Rajani, Teaching Associate 

Dr Mehak is an MBBS graduate from Dow Medical College. Her journey in AKUH started with house job in 2016 and then she joined CIME as a Teaching Associate in 2018. She has a remarkable academic profile including research electives at The Aga Khan University and Neuro-medicine electives from The University of Toronto, Canada. She has published in international journals and recently represented CIME at international level in SIMGHOSTS Conference. She specializes in design, development, documentation and execution of simulation-based courses. She aspires to improve patient safety and efficiency in patient care through promoting simulation-based clinicaltraining in developing countries.​

Ms Dorothy Lyall, Coordinator 

Ms Dorothy Lyall is Coordinator at CIME. She is involved in organising and coordinating simulation-based courses and workshops. In her previous 30 years of professional experience, she has been overall responsible for the administrative, finance, and other operational functions of the School of Nursing skills lab.

Mr Burhan Ali, Senior Assistant

Mr Burhan holds a Masters degree in Human Resource Management from Dadabhoy Institute of Higher Education (DIHE). He oversees CIME data management. He also perform the role of safety coordinator for CIME. Before joining CIME team, he was working in Surgery department where he was awarded best ​administrative staff for year 2016.

In his spare time, he enjoys playing cricket and basketball, watching movies and listening songs.

Mr Nabi leads the marketing initiatives to spread the word about CIME to people around the world. He oversees the CIME marketing activities and manages CIME official website, intranet and social media site.

He is also involved in organising and coordinating simulation-based courses and workshops. ​He holds a Masters degree in Marketing from Institute of Business Management (IoBM). He has been associated with the university since 2012. He loves learning new things and building things that help people learn.​​​

Mr Talha holds a bachelor degree in computer engineering from Sir Syed University of Engineering and Technology. He is involved in organising and coordinating simulation-based activities. He provides technical support in simulation-based activities. He is also responsible for equipment management. He has a keen interest in exploring new technologies in healthcare industry. He enjoys travelling and spending time with his family.​​​

Mr Darab has a wide range of responsibilities to ensure smooth operations in a busy working environment. He provides support in marketing of educational programmes and workshops. He assists in managing social media channels including Facebook, Instagram and YouTube.

He manages the educational events and branding activities to ensure successful outcome, to reflect the institute's image and to enhance the brand image matching with the university strategy.

Ms Nazleen holds a Masters degree in economics from University of Karachi. She has been working with the Aga Khan University Hospital at different administrative positions since 2008.

She joined CIME in 2016, providing secretarial and administrative support to the Director's office. She is also a member of CIME social media team. She is a joyful person among the CIME ​team.

​Mr Rehman oversees the CIME equipment management and provides administrative support to Simulation Labs. He has over five years of professional experience. Before joining the CIME team, he worked as a volunteer in Human Resource department where he honed his skills in office operations and event management. 

In his free time, he enjoys spending time with his family, watching ​movies and hanging out with his friends.

​Mr Suneel​ holds a bachelor degree in Arts​​ from Allama Iqbal Open University​. He is involved in organising and coordinating nursing activities, simulation-based courses and workshops. He has over ten years of professional experience. 

Before joining the CIME team, he worked as an Assistant​​ in Skills Lab, School of Nursing and Midwifery, AKU, where he honed his skills in office operations and equipment manageme​nt.
