Professor Charles Docherty, Global Director
Professor Charles Docherty, The Robert Buchanan Endowed Chair in Teaching with Technology has a 34 year-long distinguished career in Healthcare Education. Of note are his international work, inter-professional career path, and his many publications. The scope of his role has increased to that of Global Director to encompass similar centres in Nairobi, Kampala and Dar er Salaam.

Ms Caroline Kago, Simulation Administration Specialist, CIME Nairobi
Ms Caroline has a Bsc. Accounting degree from Mississippi University for Women in Columbus Ga, USA and will graduate with an MBA in Strategic Management at United States International University-Africa later this year.
She oversees the overall administration of our centre in Nairobi, Kenya. She has experience in accounting, business management and administration in a variety of industries.
Mr Kelvin Chege, Simulation Technical Analyst, CIME Nairobi
Mr Chege holds a bachelor's degree in computer science from Masinde Muliro University of science and technology. He is involved in coordinating simulation-based programmes, equipment management and maintenance, and provides technical support for educational activities .
He has over five years of experience working as an IT professional. He enjoys traveling and socializing with people.
Ms Nazleen Punjwani, Coordinator, Director's Office
Ms Nazleen holds a Master's degree in economics from the University of Karachi. She has been working with the Aga Khan University Hospital at different administrative positions since 2008.
She joined CIME in 2016, providing secretarial and administrative support to the Director's office. She is a joyful person among the CIME team.
Mr Numair Shahpur, Simulation Technical Advisor
Mr Numair is an Engineering graduate of the Karachi Institute of Economics and Technology and has working experience in IT infrastructure and healthcare simulation. He has been associated with the university since 2011 and is currently working as Simulation Technical Advisor. While ensuring that appropriate technology is available to support the educational programmes and research at CIME, he also advises on the planning of simulation based courses and projects. Recently, he has contributed towards the establishment of CIME, Nairobi and is involved in planning for CIME, Kampala. Numair is currently pursing his Masters degree in Healthcare Simulation from the University of Alabama at Birmingham.
Dr Mehak Rajani, Simulation Education Advisor
Dr Mehak is an MBBS graduate from Dow Medical College and a Certified Healthcare Simulation Educator (CHSE) by the Society for Simulation in Healthcare (SSH). She joined CIME in 2018 and is currently working as a Simulation Education Advisor. She has conducted multiple research projects in simulation and published findings in international journals and simulation education conferences. She advises on planning simulation-based courses, programmes, and workshops at the centre according to the international standards of SSH. She aspires to improve patient safety and promote efﬁciency in patient care through promoting simulation-based clinical training in developing countries.
Mr Burhan Ali, Specialist - Operational Management
Mr Burhan completed a Master's degree in Human Resource Management from the Dadabhoy Institute of Higher Education (DIHE) and is currently pursuing a Master's degree in Management Sciences from the Shaheed Zulfikar Ali Bhutto Institute of Science and Technology (SZABIST).
Reporting to the Simulation Administration Advisor, he is responsible for Operational Management of the centre. His responsibilities also include Budgeting and Costing, Report Writing, and Data Management.
Mr Ghulam Nabi, Specialist - Media, Marketing and Communications
Mr Nabi leads the marketing initiatives to spread the word about CIME to people around the world. He oversees the CIME's media, marketing, and communications activities and manages the official website, intranet portal, and social media sites.
He is also involved in organising and coordinating simulation-based programmes. He holds a Master's degree in Marketing from the Institute of Business Management (IoBM) and has been associated with the university since 2012.
Mr Talha Ahmed Khan, Specialist - Simulation Technical
Mr Talha holds a bachelor's degree in computer engineering from Sir Syed University of Engineering and Technology. He is involved in organising and coordinating simulation-based programmes and provides technical support for educational activities.
He is also responsible for equipment management. He has a keen interest in exploring new technologies in the healthcare industry. He enjoys travelling and spending time with his family.
Mr Jalal Uddin, Simulation Technical Analyst
Mr Jalal holds a Bachelor of Science in biomedical engineering from Sir Syed University of Engineering and Technology. He provides technical support in simulation-based activities. He is also responsible for the maintenance of simulators and medical equipment.
He has been associated with AKU since 2015 and has expertise in the maintenance of critical and imaging equipment.
Mr Darab Nisar Ahmed, Simulation Technical Analyst
Mr Darab completed a bachelor's degree in Commerce from the University of Karachi and is currently pursuing a Bachelor of Sciences in Software Engineering degree from ILMA University.
He provides technical support in educational activities at the centre. He has been associated with the university since 2015.
Ms Saba Bashir, Simulation Technical Analyst
Ms Saba graduated from Muhammad Ali Jinnah University with a Bachelor of Science in Computer Science and is now pursuing a Master of Science in Data Science at FAST NUCES. She started working for the Aga Khan Education Service in Pakistan as an IT Analyst in 2017. She later joined the CIME simulation technical team in June 2021. Saba is skilled with BigData, data analytics, and data management. She is also proficient in process automation. Saba is particularly interested in working on machine learning and deep learning models.
Ms Rahina Inayat, Simulation Education Analyst
Ms Rahina graduated from the AKU BScN programme. She started her professional career in 2018 as a Trainee Nurse Intern (TNI) at AKUH, where she got an opportunity to serve as a TNI in Gilgit Baltistan and Chitral for three months. Later in 2019, she continued her services as an RN in the Cardiac-ICU for two more years. Currently, she is pursuing her Master’s degree in Health and Hospital Management. She joined CIME in December 2020 and is working with the Education Team to design, implement and evaluate innovative simulation-based programmes for medical, nursing and inter-professional groups.
Dr Sardar Shahmir Babar Chauhan, Simulation Education Analyst
Shahmir joined the CIME team in May 2021, shortly after completing his MBBS degree from the Aga Khan University Medical College. His professional interests lie in undergraduate and postgraduate medical education, particularly in the field of Surgery. He is currently working with the Education Team to develop curricula for and evaluate simulation–based workshops that cater to the needs healthcare professionals from various academic backgrounds.
He enjoys swimming, weight lifting and playing basketball during his free time.
Dr Muhammad Ibrahim Habib, Research Associate
Dr Habib graduated from the AKU MBBS programme in 2021. During his time as a student, he founded and served as the President of the Society for Promoting Innovation in Education (SPIE); a student-run organisation at AKU with the objective of promoting a culture of learning and teaching, research and community engagement among students. The group works in collaboration with the CIME. As a Research Associate, Dr Habib strives to create meaningful research initiatives that guide future educational practices whilst also being involved in a hands on capacity in simulation design, development and execution.
Mr Rehman Baloch, Simulation Assistant
Mr Rehman oversees the CIME equipment management and provides administrative support to our Simulation Labs. He has over five years of professional experience. Before joining the CIME team, he worked as a volunteer in the Human Resource department where he honed his skills in office operations and event management.
In his free time, he enjoys spending time with his family, watching movies and hanging out with his friends.
Mr Aashir Rauf, Simulation Assistant
Mr Aashir provides administrative support for our educational programmes, workshops and courses. He is currently pursuing a bachelor degree in Commerce from the University of Karachi. He joined the centre in November 2019.
Before joining the CIME team, he worked as an Administrative Assistant for UEC (Pvt) Ltd.
