Full-time Programme

The one-year, full-time Master of Education programme at the Institute for Educational Development in East Africa attracts high quality students from across eastern Africa. The programme provides a clear theoretical foundation for teaching from early childhood to upper secondary level. The programme’s alumni include exemplary teachers, education ministry officials, school and college principals, teacher trainers, district regional education officers and academics.

Admissions for full-time programme for 2022 admission cycle have closed. The last date for submission of applications was August 1, 2022.​

Part-time Programme

The part-time programme is for experienced teachers, teacher trainers, principals and other professionals linked to the field of education. The programme has a duration of 3-5 years allowing participants flexibility.

Empowered to Teach

Benjamin Oyoo bid his family in Kenya goodbye to pursue his Master of Education degree at AKU’s Institute for Educational Development , IED, in Dar es Salaam, Tanzania. He has seen incredible improvement in his teaching skills which he attributes to the high quality of the programme.
