Full-time Programme
The 18-month, full-time Master of Education programme at the Institute for Educational Development in East Africa attracts high quality students from across eastern Africa. The programme provides a clear theoretical foundation for teaching from early childhood to upper secondary level. The programme’s alumni include exemplary teachers, education ministry officials, school and college principals, teacher trainers, district regional education officers and academics.
Part-time Programme
The part-time programme is for experienced teachers, teacher trainers, principals and other professionals linked to the field of education. The programme has a duration of 3-5 years allowing flexibility to the participants.

Eligibility Criteria
Full-time Programme
- An undergraduate degree with at least lower second-class (or equivalent) from a recognized University
- Minimum five years of working experience if from the Kenyan public sector
- English skills sufficient to access a graduate-level course
- Ability to demonstrate strong reasoning and reflective skills
- Submit a Personal statement
Part-time Programme
An undergraduate degree with at least lower second-class (or equivalent) from a recognized University
Minimum two years of teaching or equivalent educational experience
English skills sufficient to access a graduate level course
Ability to demonstrate strong reasoning and reflective skills
Ability to demonstrate a clear motivation for graduate level study
