The 43rd annual conference of the Pakistan association of pathologists and the 8th Joint conference of Societies of pathology was held in Karachi from 25th to 27th November 2022 at Pearl continental Karachi with the motto of 75 years of Pathology in Pakistan.

 The inauguration of the Histopathology Scientific session and PAP 2022 was done by President PAP and the chair Organizing committee, Dr. Shahid Pervez. Dr. Naila Kayani, president HCSP, honored the occasion with her welcome address.  The Histopathology Scientific committee was chaired by Dr. Nasir-Ud-din who gave a brief introduction to the program, followed by an enlightening talk by Dr. Shahid Pervez on 75 years of pathology in Pakistan. The sessions included International and National speakers with varied fields of expertise and interests. Dr. Zubair Baloch from the University of Pennsylvania, USA, presented “Classifying thyroid neoplasms: Nomenclature, Histogenesis, and grading" via video link. Dr. Akhtar Sohail Chughtai from Chughtai Institute of Pathology, Lahore, gave an enlightening talk on “Pathology education and the future of pathology in Pakistan". Dr. Anil Parwani from The Ohio State University, USA, highlighted the “Impact of digital pathology and artificial intelligence on routine histopathology practice". Dr. Gerhard Stauch from the Institute of Pathology, Aurich, Germany mentioned his journey of “Surgical pathology in low-income countries".

The second session of the day was neuropathology updates with a series of talks by Dr. Zubair Ahmad, Dr.  Ahmed Gilani, Dr. Khurram Minhas from Aga Khan University Hospital, and Dr. Usman Hassan from SKMH Lahore.

The next session included Hematolymphoid, genitourinary and soft tissue pathology updates by Dr. Arsalan Ahmed, Dr. Zeeshan-ud-Din, and Dr. Nasir-ud-Din from Aga Khan University Hospital. This session had other distinguished speakers including Dr. Imran Nazir, Major Gen. Dr. Hafeez-ud-Din, and Dr. Muhammad Mubarak. This session was concluded by two international speakers from NHS Trust, UK. There was an “Update on melanocytic lesions" by Dr. Marium Moosa Khan, followed by “Clinical governance in Pathology" by Dr. Muhammad Shafiq Gill.

The last session of the day was an interesting and challenging case presentation. These cases were presented by Brig Tariq Sarfraz. Dr. Amna Khursheed, Dr. Saba Hassan, Dr. Anila Chughtai, and Dr. Waqas Ahmed.

The scientific session for 27th November included some keynote speakers such as Dr. Naveen Faridi, Dr. Nadira Mamoon, Dr. Romana Idrees, Dr. Qasim Ahmed, Dr. Saira Fatima, Dr. Mulazim Hussain Bukhari, and Dr. Samina Zaman. The last session of the day included free papers and oral presentation followed by the commencement of the closing ceremony and Award distribution.

There were pre and post-conference workshops. The pre-conference workshop was held on 25th November, at CPSP karachi, conducted by Dr. Anil Parwani and facilitated by Dr. Zeeshan-ud-Din.

The post-conference workshop “Working in the UK and FRCPath examination in histopathology-Myths & Facts" was conducted by Drs. Shafiq Gill and Marium Moosa Khan. This workshop was facilitated by Dr. Khurram Minhas.​​
