Overview:

The workshop on External Quality Assurance (EQA) -Enhancing Laboratory Quality Through Proficiency Testing was held as part of pre- conference workshop in 2^nd International Allied Health Conference at Aga Khan University Hospital, Karachi. 

The workshop focuses on the importance of EQA and Proficiency Testing (PT) in improving laboratory performance and reliability. Workshop was attended by Quality Control/ Assurance personnel, Senior Technologists, Laboratory Assistant Managers, Faculty members and Residents working in Clinical Laboratory.

Workshop Layout:

The workshop combine educational presentations, interactive discussions & case-based group exercises. Participants were engaged in real case scenario where they worked on interpretation of real PT data, perfo​​rmance of trend evaluation, development of corrective action plans, ensuring practical understanding and hands-on learning.  ​

Workshop Outcomes:

At the end of the workshop, participants gained a clear understanding of how to promote competence and reliability in testing performance, enhance compliance with international standards, and foster a culture of continuous improvement and quality awareness by participating in External quality assessment. They also learned how to strengthen patient safety and data integrity through accurate laboratory reporting, while building staff capacity and confidence in effectively managing and responding to proficiency testing outcomes.​
