Message from our Director

As a member of the medical community have you ever felt the gap between locally relevant guidelines and research, if the answer is yes, then we are in agreement and that’s why the Center of Best Practices (CCBP) was incubated in CITRIC. I have had the privilege of leading CCBP since its inception in 2020.

With the Chancellor His Highness Prince Karim Aga Khan's vision to follow the principle of IQRA (Impact, Quality, Relevance, Access), we aim to provide standardized, high-quality evidence-based care to the communities where AKU exists, with consideration of local challenges and opportunities.

We are working on:

1) Adolopment of clinical guidelines for the adult outpatient context.

2) Research & Publication.

3) Establishment of guidelines adaptation of GRADE methodology.

Our center is involved in the capacity building of our staff and faculty through the Evidence Foundation. Our work is supported by and in collaboration with the 20+ clinical sections and departments at AKU and that’s where the real strength of our department lies. AKU's faculty are the subject matter expert in their field, and we are working with them to create the first-of-its-kind, systematically adapted GRADE guidelines for Pakistan. I am aided in this work by my fantastic team of managers and research associates who collaborate on a daily basis with clinical experts to enable the two goals I shared with you earlier.
