​Research Cell

The Department of Anaesthesiology focusses its efforts on providing the best quality anaesthesia training and patient care; research is a major contributing factor to our quality of training and services, and towards the evolution of the anaesthesiology specialty. 

The department’s research cell comprises of six research sub-groups:

  1. Administration
  2. Grant management and monitoring
  3. Mentorship
  4. Residents’ research support
  5. Research education
  6. Quality of research

The research cell facilitates a broad range of clinical and basic science research, and plays an important role in enhancing research education. The research cell has a diverse team of individuals and specialists who collectively work towards producing high standards of department-led research. Department mentors are committed to helping residents, fellows and early career faculty in identifying and pursuing research projects which impact large populations.

Every year, the department publishes several articles, randomised controlled trials, systematic reviews, case series, case reports and book chapters in national and international journals and books. To encourage research activities, the department allocates resources such as grants and extra research time for researchers. The Department of Anaesthesiology is also involved in numerous intramural and extramural grant-funded research projects and is a collaborator in some international multicenter projects.
