Volunteer Service Program (Pakistan)

AKU has long been defined by a strong tradition of volunteerism, rooted in values of service, compassion, and civic responsibility. Building on this legacy, the Medical College and HR have now formalized a structured approach through the revival of an existing AKU Volunteer Service Program (Pakistan).

The program, developed through the Office of Volunteer Services, provides a coordinated mechanism for alumni, supporters, and professionals to contribute their time and expertise in alignment with institutional priorities. It is designed to foster a culture of service, knowledge-sharing, and community engagement across the University.

The initiative includes multiple streams for engagement, including students and community workers, professionals, and TKN (Time Knowledge Nazrana) volunteers. Within the Medical College, volunteer contributions may range from remote teaching, mentorship, and research support to targeted in-person clinical capacity development.

A structured matching process will ensure alignment between volunteer expertise and departmental needs. Following application submission, profiles will be reviewed and matched to relevant opportunities, with HR facilitating onboarding, logistics, and coordination. Departments and Centers will also be able to submit volunteer requests to guide engagement priorities, supported by a robust system for monitoring, feedback, and impact evaluation.
