Inaugural Founder's Day

On March 16, 1983, AKU signed its Charter to become Pakistan’s first private university. To commemorate AKU's 40th Anniversary and the Founder and Chancellor's vision, the University celebrated its first ever Founder's Day on March 16, 2023.

Founder’s Day brings the AKU family together to reconnect to the Founder, His Highness the Aga Khan's vision for the University, which has shaped it into what it is today, and to celebrate our achievements and our impact over the last four decades.

"We have gathered to celebrate a trio of milestones. This time we have done so on three continents and before a global audience, a testament to the University’s enormous growth and transformation. And if our joy and pride were great in 1983, how much greater they should be today, given all that we have achieved together, and the promise of our graduands," said Princess Zahra Aga Khan. Speaking on behalf of the University’s Chancellor, His Highness the Aga Khan.
