Al-Karim Haji
Vice President, Finance and Chief Financial Officer

Mr Al-Karim Haji is responsible for the planning, financing, business development and financial affairs
of the Aga Khan University and its health care system across six countries. He works closely with governments
and multilateral and bilateral funding organizations to secure funding for the
University's expansions. He also serves as Senior Advisor to the Board of
FMIC and has advised and supported FMIC since its inception.
Mr Haji was responsible for commissioning the
Economic Impact Study of AKU in Pakistan and served as the Chairman of the
Steering Committee that oversaw the study.
In addition, Mr Haji serves as Chairman of the Health
Network Purchase Committee of the Aga Khan Development Network (AKDN) that consists of 21
hospitals, 750 medical centres in 12 countries treating 8 million patients
annually. He is also a member of the
AKDN Endowment Investment Committee.
He
is an alumnus of the Sauder School of Business at the University of British
Columbia and is a Canadian Chartered Accountant. He has served in voluntary
capacities in
many organisations.
