Antimicrobial Resistance Research Group
FOCUS
Between 2010 and 2014, the research group published at least 100 papers in local and international journals on the theme of antimicrobial resistance (AMR) — a menace of urgent concern. The group's work covers all aspects of research on AMR:
- Accurate and early detection (using resistance gene detection) of antimicrobial resistance in bacteria, viruses (esp. HIV and Influenza), fungi and parasites
- Epidemiology including genetic basis, molecular mechanism and risk factors related to drug resistance
- Review trends and identify emerging resistance
- Evaluates interventions for prevention of emergence and spread of resistance
- Analyze outbreaks related to anti-microbial resistant organisms
- Associate changing pharmacokinetic/pharmacodynamics parameters in various host with susceptibility cut-off and serum drug levels
