The Laboratory quality assurance and quality control program was rated exceptionally high in the recent ISO 9002 audit, conducted by AIB Vincotte of Belgium Auditors. Dr Sheema H. Hassan, Acting Chairman, Department of Pathology, AKU, said "the visiting audit team recommended AKUH Clinical Laboratory for accreditation by a higher authority from UK/USA."
In 1987, AKUH's first Laboratory Specimen Collection Unit was established at Clifton to provide easy accessibility to the patients and physicians in District South. Since then, AKUH Laboratory has established its countrywide presence with an extensive outreach program.
