Professor Anjum Halai, Vice Provost at AKU Pakistan has been elected as a fellow at the prestigious World Academy of Arts & Sciences (WAAS).
WAAS was founded in 1960 by eminent intellectuals including scientist Albert Einstein, Brock Chisholm, first Director General of WHO amongst many others. The Academy serves as a forum for reflective scientists, artists, and scholars dedicated to addressing the pressing challenges confronting humanity today.
Professor Halai’s pursuit of excellence has positively impacted the academic community, in Pakistan and beyond. As a fellow of WAAS, she joins a distinguished group of intellectuals, academics and scholars from around the world, from diverse cultures, nationalities, intellectual disciplines and professions coming together to address global social challenges.
Professor Halai’s academic career is decorated with several reputed awards and funding. She has authored and co-authored more than 100 scholarly papers and has presented her works at national and international forums. Her contributions have acclaimed recognition from honourable subject experts around the world.
Dr Halai is also a recipient of a doctoral scholarship for full time study at Oxford University, the Green College, Oxford University’s Student Award for research work in Pakistan, AKU’s Award of Distinction in Course Work and Dissertation amongst others. She has longstanding experience in building higher education institutions through establishing policy and governance system, academic budget development, academic space management, steering new academic initiatives, senior academic recruitment, government liaison, relationship building with international and national stakeholder in higher education.
Dr Halai was a member of the General Education Advisory Board of the Open Society Foundation New York from 2015 to 2017. She has also served as an adjunct professor from 2011 to 2016 at the University of Alberta Canada and was a research fellow at the University of Sussex UK.
