Yasir Rahim, BScN ’21: Becoming a holistic care provider
May 26, 2020
Share
“I chose to study nursing after completing college – which was a totally different career choice from what my friends were pursuing and I was concerned if I had made the right decision.
Now, when I am in the third year of my BScN programme with significant clinical experience in hospitals and community settings under the supervision of AKU faculty, I realise what it means to be a nurse and I’m proud of my decision.
The moments that have probably hit me the hardest were from my clinical rotation in the Paediatric Intensive Care Unit. When children get sick, as much as they need nurses, doctors and medication, they also need emotional support and constant reassurance that can help them get to the other side, the side of being healthy and well again. Whenever I think of this, I feel so much pride in my profession as it allows me to care for people when they are vulnerable.” – Yasir Rahim, BScN ’21
Yasir joined the Aga Khan University’s School of Nursing and Midwifery in 2018 with the aspiration to become a nurse educator.
