IED commended the leadership, dedication, and hard work of Professor Nelofer Halai and Dr Kulsoom Jaffer at a celebratory gathering. The AKU leadership and IED family appreciated the retiring faculty for their services and contribution.
Professor Halai, who has served the Institute for 23 years, has been a leading advocate for improving science education in schools in Pakistan. During her tenure at IED, she taught science education and research courses in the MEd, MPhil and PhD programmes and spearheaded the Institute’s research work in science education. As the programme lead, Professor Halai played an instrumental role in developing IED’s PhD programme in collaboration with international partner universities.
During her 18 years of services to IED, Dr Kulsoom Jaffer made her mark as an expert in educational leadership and management and monitoring and evaluation. She played a key role in designing the educational leadership and management courses for certificate, diploma and master’s programmes. Besides teaching in the Institute’s degree and non-degree programmes, Dr Jaffer led the outreach portfolio of IED and supported the extension of its educational programmes and services to the hard-to-access areas in Pakistan.
