National Symposium on Primary Health Care: Foundation for Universal Health Coverage
The National Symposium on Primary Health Care aims to enhance strategies, identify synergies and align organizational efforts and goals towards the achievement of Universal Health Coverage. As such, the Symposium will serve as a platform to gather stakeholders, pool technical resources and expertise to address the defined challenges in Primary Health Care, influence policies through evidence-informed advocacy, encourage data sharing, and promote collective action.
The Symposium is organized as part of the PHC Learning Agenda (PLA) Pakistan, a two-year joint initiative of the Aga Khan University (AKU) and the Gates Foundation (GF). The rationale of this initiative is to help share information and exchange good practices on different aspects of PHC in the country.
Event Objectives
- Exchange best practices and experiences in PHC from Pakistan, LMICs and global
- Reinforcement of the importance of primary health care in advancing towards UHC
- Ensure alignment of senior stakeholders and identify synergies among members by recognizing opportunities for cooperation and coordination among member organizations
- Pool technical resources and facilitate the sharing of knowledge, data and expertise to effectively address identified challenges in PHC
- Facilitate research and evidence-based practices in PHC, driving continuous improvement and innovation
- Advocate for policies and reforms that support the enhancement of PHC services
