​1st International Collaborative Mycology Conference​​

The Aga Khan University, in colla​boration​ with the Glo​bal Action Fund for Fungal Infection, GAFFI, and the Medical Microbiology & Infectious Diseases Society of Pakistan, MMIDSP, is holding its 1st International Collaborative Mycology Conference at the University in Karachi, Pakistan.​

Objectives

  • To improve knowledge and skills of health professionals about fungal infections

  • To highlight the fungal diseases of public health importance

  • To increase awareness of optimal use of fungal diagnostics

  • To provide a platform for developing inter-sectoral links for reducing fungal disease burden in Pakistan​​


Highlights

  • Multidisciplinary discussions on: burden and trends of fungal diseases, diagnostic algorithms, fungal diagnostics, laboratory strengthening and outbreak management, economic impact of fungal infections in animal and food sector, will be held during conference.

  • Sessions on: common fungal infections in Pakistan; invasive candidiasis; aspergillosis; mucormycosis; cryptococcosis; mycetoma and chromoblastomycosis; and other difficult to treat fungal infections, will also be part of the conference.
