Newborn Health
NeoSep1
The NeoSep1 Trial is a major international clinical study led by the Global Antibiotic Research & Development Partnership (GARDP) to find better, life-saving antibiotic treatments for newborn babies suffering from drug-resistant sepsis. The trial aims to enroll 3,000 newborns across nine countries in Africa and Asia.
ACTION-III
The World Health Organization ACTION-III trial (Antenatal CorticosTeroids for Improving Outcomes in Preterm Newborns) is a multi-country, randomized, double-blind, three-arm, placebo-controlled study. It evaluates the benefits and safety of two different antenatal corticosteroid regimens versus placebo to improve health outcomes for babies born in the late preterm period. The trial was conducted across five countries.
KMC Implementation Project
This WHO-funded implementation project aimed to strengthen and scale up Kangaroo Mother Care (KMC) practices at selected public-sector health facilities. The project supported the implementation and evaluation of a KMC framework developed for these facilities across two diverse settings—urban and semi-urban/rural. In parallel, community mobilization and awareness-raising activities were undertaken to promote understanding and uptake of KMC among families and communities, with the overall goal of informing sustainable integration and scale-up of KMC within the health system.

A community-based, cluster randomized trial was conducted in rural district Dadu, with a primary objective to evaluate the effectiveness of cKMC in reducing neonatal mortality among premature and low birthweight (LBW) infants.
