How can one apply for admission?​

Applicants are required to submit their applications online on University’s application portal www.aku.edu/apply-online​. The application portal starts accepting applications when the admissions open. 


Are hard-copy applications accepted from those applicants who live in remote areas without internet facility?

Applicants from remote areas who do not have internet facilities are provided PDF copies of writable application form. They can complete the PDF application form and send scanned copies of the form and other application documents to the Registrar’s Office. What is the admission criteria?

Minimum university entrance requirements
​Minimum requirements applicable to candidates admitted directly out of secondary school with
Uganda Certificate of Education (UCE) or its equivalent and Uganda Advanced Certificate of Education (UACE) or its equivalent with a principal pass in Biology and another principal pass in Chemistry, Physics or Mathematics.

  • ​​​Sitting of AKU Admissions test (written test for Biology, Mathematical reasoning, and English).

  • ​​Oral interview (General knowledge about the nursing profession)​ 


Can I get the fees structure for the programmes?​

The fees structure is provided with the admission package. Tuition fees and other costs are subject to change and are determined each year.​

How can I pay application fee for the online applications process?

You will be provided the bank account details where to pay the application fees. Once you have made the payment, please submit a scanned copy of the payment slip along with the other required documents.

Is there any working experience required to apply?

No. There is no requirement of any working experience.

When and how are the interviews conducted?

Shortlisted applicants are required to write an admission test comprising of Biology, Mathematical reasoning, and English and appear for oral interviews for the assessment of their nursing knowledge. Click here​ to find the dates.


Are there any scholarships and what is the procedure for applying? ​
