Grid Station

The proposed new grid station located near the helipad will help the University meet its electricity requirements as it increases the number of facilities available on campus. It is expected that the campus expansion will increase the built up area to 4 million square feet from the current 1.6 million square feet.  The current electrical power demand for the University and Hospital is 6 MW, and expected to gradually rise to 16 MW.

The new grid station, construction of which commenced in September 2013, is slated to come on line by mid-2015.

Key Features of the Grid Station

  • Capable of generating 132kV
  • Being built in collaboration with local power supplier – K-Electric
  • Construction and commissioning to be done by Siemens Pakistan
  • Connectivity with existing KE existing grids of Gulshan-e-Iqbal and Civic Centre will help relieve overload conditions on these grids.
