As part of its mission to build human capacity, the Aga Khan University is committed to staff development to widen access to opportunities and to promote professional development. As an international university, English language proficiency is a key skill at AKU that needs to be developed for career advancement.
In line with this vision, ELE_net is offering an English for Housekeeping Staff course in Tanzania in order to provide them with the opportunity to improve their English language skills to increase their possibilities of professional development.
The face-to-face classes are augmented with an online component from the British Council Learn English Select platform. This means the participants will also have the opportunity to develop their ICT skills by integrating technology in their English language learning. Working with the IT department in Dar es Salaam, the housekeeping staff taking the course received a 3-week induction to ICT before starting their English classes.
