Responsibilities

You will be responsible to:
  • assess the patients, develop and deliver the individual speech therapy treatment programme to improve patient’s auditory comprehension, visual reading perception and comprehensive oral motor strength, coordination and symmetry, swallowing components of oral phase, pharyngeal phase indicators, verbal expression, word finding skills, speech intelligibility and articulation, voice characteristics,  written expression, gestured communication skills, augmentative and alternative modes of communication under supervision of Senior Physiotherapist / Speech Therapist.
  • formulate treatment and exercise plans for patients enabling them to achieve treatment goals
  • write patient assessments and progress notes according to the SOAP  format.
  • educate and advise patients and their families about how to prevent and improve conditions
  • liaise with other healthcare personnel in daily ward rounds to get and receive relevant information about the progress of patients
  • Participate in appropriate in-house training programmes, tutorials, and individual training sessions.
  • ensure safe and competent use of physiotherapy equipment, appliances and aides
  • attend ward rounds with senior staff, and attend patient care meetings.

Requirements

You should have:
  • bachelors or Master’s degree in Speech Pathology and Audiology or equivalent from a recognized university
  • at least one year of relevant experience in healthcare organization of good repute
  • knowledge of speech therapy theory, technique and equipment
  • ability to evaluate patients, monitor and record patient progress
  • knowledge of counselling and healthcare techniques
  • ability to perform speech therapy procedures and operate related equipment
  • ability to effectively work independently as well as in teams.
