About Safe Disclosure programme at AKU

The AKU Safe Disclosure policy is intended to encourage employees and others to make good faith reports of suspected fraud, harassment, corruption, health, and safety concerns within the University to the Safe Disclosure office.  The programme focuses on encouraging all its internal and external stakeholders of AKU to speak up against any kind of wrongdoing that they may witness. Standing up and reporting wrongdoings in our institution helps to improve and strengthen our existing systems and controls, and to uplift our AKU culture to the highest possible ethical standards.

Job Summary

Reporting to the Manager/Director, the successful candidate will assist the team in maintaining the University’s Safe Disclosure program. He/she will work with the team in various steps of disclosure case handling i.e. from receiving of disclosures, preliminary inquiry, determining case validity, preparing inquiry reports, and refer/coordination of investigation. Additionally, the successful candidate will facilitate periodic reporting of Safe Disclosure program activity to senior management and the oversight Trustee.

Responsibilities

  • Promote highest standards of ethical conduct in all activities of case handling and work
  • Receive disclosures through different routes via external service provider or any other source
  • Assist the Manager/Director to conduct inquiry and determine disclosure merits investigation
  • Prepare draft of investigation reports for Director’s review
  • Maintain data of investigations/reports
  • Assist the Team in implementation of Safe Disclosure policy communication plan
  • Develop training curriculum that is tailored to the audience, including web-based solutions
  • Prepare presentations and conduct training sessions in the organization
  • Communicate the Safe Disclosure policy throughout the organization
  • Keep a rolling communication plan for employees in all regions

Requirements

  • Must have a minimum of a Bachelor’s degree in Human Resources, Healthcare discipline (MBBS, BS in Nursing, Pharmacy) and Law. A Master’s degree in similar fields is an added advantage
  • Must have relevant professional membership, qualification and certification
  • Have a minimum 3-5 years’ experience in Healthcare Administration and Quality, Employee Relations, Audit, Forensic Audit, Risk and Compliance, or Legal disciplines
  • Have demonstrable experience in disciplined approach to case handling and reporting
  • Exposure to managing employee relations/whistle blowing programs are desirable for this role
  • Previous exposure in areas of academic administration, healthcare administration, human resources, risk management, quality assurance would be advantageous
  • Have practical good problem-solving skills, coupled with the ability to manage a varied workload
