The Associate of Science in Dental Hygiene (ASDH) is a two-year degree programme recognised by the Higher Education Commission (HEC) in Pakistan. The programme includes courses in liberal arts (English, sociology and psychology, leadership and management); basic sciences (anatomy, physiology, pharmacology, immunology, microbiology and pathology); and clinical sciences (dental hygiene, radiology, community health and dental materials).

The programme provides education by promoting scholarly activity in dental hygiene theory and practice and provide high quality education and services in a cost-efficient manner to the population it can reach by its programme.

Aga Khan University invites applications for the position of Assistant Professor / Associate Professor (Associate of Science in Dental Hygiene) in the Department of Surgery.

Responsibilities

The full-time teaching position will serve as part of a progressive faculty team who will provide mentoring, instruction, and oversight to undergraduate and graduate dental hygiene students in all learning environments. Specifically, this position includes involvement in curriculum development, implementation, and evaluation; didactic instruction, coordination in the clinical section, clinical education sites and research.

Requirements

You must have: 
  • a Master’s degree in Dental Hygiene, Education, or related area. Applicants must be licensed and Registered Dental Hygienists
  • at least 5 years of dental hygiene practice and teaching experience in a college and/or university setting
  • curriculum management experience in a college and/or university setting
  • experience coordinating a team of people in academic, research and clinical settings
  • sound conceptual knowledge of dental hygiene and ability to integrate theory into practice
  • demonstrate clinical competence as a professional dental hygienist and an effective role model
  • excellent teaching skills & knowledge of new teaching methodologies and practices 
  • demonstrated excellence in and commitment to teaching, research and clinical practice
  • consistent senior authorship of 1-2 investigative research papers per year in reputable peer-reviewed journals in the field.
