Introduction

The Department of Anaesthesiology at the Aga Khan University Hospital provides anaesthesia and other OR facilities for all surgical procedures, perioperative care and intensive care to critically ill surgical patients in the surgical intensive care unit , and also provided services for acute and chronic pain management. Our department has a mix of skilled anaesthesiologists (doctors specially trained to keep you unconscious, free of pain during the surgery or help you manage long term pain), qualified nurses and highly trained anaesthesia and surgical technicians. The CSSD department provides disinfection and sterilization services to all hospital area required this special services. We are committed to delivering compassionate, ethical, accessible and high-quality care to all patients requiring anaesthesia, intensive care and pain services.

Responsibilities

The incumbent will be responsible for: 
  • assisting Head Nurse in day to day management of the unit
  • teaching and mentoring novice staff
  • ensuring quality care being delivered to patients
  • meeting clinicians frequently to discuss patient care related issues
  • coordinating with multidisciplinary teams to enhance quality of patientcare
  • assessing patient care and acuity trends, plan and manage unit and staffing with supplies, equipment and resources
  • demonstrating initiative to review concepts of Quality Improvement in Nursing Practice (QINP) 

Requirements

Applicant should have: 
  • a Baccalaureate Degree in Nursing (BScN) from an accredited school
  • minimum three years of nursing experience preferably in medical and surgical areas/operating room
  • valid license from Pakistan Nursing Council
  • certification in Cardiopulmonary Resuscitation (CPR), Safe Medication  Administration, Aseptic Techniques, I/V Cannulation, Tool Training and  Facilitation Course
  • excellent communication, interpersonal and supervisory skills
  • willingness to work in shift duties
