Introduction

The Department of Anaesthesia at the Aga Khan University Hospital provides perioperative care and other operating room facilities for all surgical procedures, intensive care to critically ill surgical patients in the surgical intensive care unit, as well as acute and chronic pain management services. Our department has a mix of anesthesiologists, qualified nurses, and highly trained surgical and anesthesia technicians. Aga Khan University Hospital invites applications for the position of Supervisor, Central Sterile Services Department.

Responsibilities

You will be responsible to:

  • prepare appropriate duty schedule for CSSD Staff & ensure that all the shifts are cover round the clock
  • provide orientation and supervise the activity of the chargehand & Technicians, & Health Care Assistant
  • develop & implement policies & procedures regarding sterilize & disinfection services
  • supervise training & evaluate training program for the CSSD staff
  • conduct in-house training for new / junior and all CSSD staff
  • ensure effective sterilization and disinfection services to all inpatient, outpatient and secondary hospitals
  • participate in cost analysis of supplies and reducing total cost of the department
  • check randomly and log sterilizer and other machine operation for effective quality assurance implementation
  • monitor washer disinfectors, dryers, sterilizers or any other machinery used in Central Sterile Services Department
  • supervise all the surgical trays packing, sterilizers/disinfectors and dispatch system
  • coordinate with user department & take necessary action according to the user need
  • monitor Prevent Plain Maintenance program on regular basis
  • monitor quality control checks on regular basis and send sterilizer bacterial spore strip test to Lab on monthly basis
  • coordinating with infection control and ensuring department health and safety policy and procedures
  • document, incidents/ omissions appropriately and report to the Coordinator/ Assistant Manager when the incident/omissions has been verified
  • supervise all the staff in Morning & Evening Shifts & Operate Ethylene oxide Sterilizer Machine.

Requirements

You should have:

  • Intermediate with atleast 5 years experience of working in a 500 bed hospital as a Chargehand
  • good understanding of sterilization practices and aseptic technique
  • ability to organize work
  • a team player to be able to maintain effective working relationship with team member, colleagues and supervisor
  • good interpersonal skills
  • understanding of infection control in Central Sterile Services Department.
