Introduction

The Centre of Excellence in Women and Child Health aims to support the introduction, scale-up and further piloting of high quality and high impact interventions to improve Maternal, Newborn, Child and Adolescent Health (MNCAH) in Pakistan by harnessing the potential of both public and private sectors, coupled with introduction of women and girls empowerment intervention. 

A third-party verification immunization coverage survey (TPVICS) under the National Immunization Support Program (NISP) to independently verify and ascertain transparently, the validity of the data reported, by the provinces, and districts, on immunization coverage in Pakistan. Aga Khan University (AKU) has worked with the guidance of the Technical Advisory Group (TAG) established to support the process of the design and implementation of the TPVICS. The TAG will be constituted as approved by the Pakistan Inter-agency Coordinating Committee (ICC) Sub-committee on Surveys and include key partners supporting the Gavi the Vaccine Alliance, Bill & Melinda Gates Foundation (BMGF), World Bank, and including representation from Federal and Provincial Governments. AKU has partnered with the Pakistan Bureau of Statistics (PBS) for technical guidance and obtained their concurrence on the methodology and instruments of the TPVICS.  The Aga Khan University has carried out the TPVICS in all 156 administrative districts of the provinces and territories of Pakistan. The second phase of the survey will commence this year from April 2022 in all 156 administrative districts of the provinces and territories of Pakistan for assessing routine immunization coverage in Pakistan. 

This is a contractual position.

Responsibilities

You will be responsible for: 
  • approaching  target household as per the directives of team leader 
  • identifying and selecting of eligible Child 
  • taking consent from mother/caretaker of eligible child
  • interviewing  the mother/primary care takers of eligible child as per assigned by Team Leader 
  • participating in morning of evening meetings called by TL to discuss and resolve day to day field related issues 
  • entering the collected data on provided tablets using recommended program same day after completion of data collection 
  • syncing tablets on daily basis to upload data to AKU server 
  • reviewing of immunization cards daily  
  • preparing and submitting progress report to team lead  on daily basis. 

Requirements

You should have:
  • a Bachelor’s degree from an HEC recogised university/institution. Master’s degree will be preferred
  • at least one to two years of relevant experience preferably in community settings
  • sensitivity to cultural differences
  • the ability to manage time and prioritize tasks effectively
  • to be an excellent team player 
  • good communication and interpersonal skills 
  • resilience and ability to cope with work pressure
  • willingness to work in the communities
  • good knowledge of utilization of handheld devices for data collection.
