AKHS,P, in collaboration with the Department of Ophthalmology and Visual Sciences at the Aga Khan University, Karachi, is strengthening its community eye care services and invites applications for the position of Consultant Ophthalmologist at the Aga Khan Medical Centre, Booni, Chitral.

Responsibilities

The incumbent will be responsible for:

  • Providing comprehensive ophthalmic care, including the diagnosis and management of wide range of ocular diseases
  • Performing a wide range of ophthalmic procedures, including cataract surgeries and laser treatments
  • Supporting community eye care initiatives and outreach activities in the region (as part of a hub and spoke eye care model)
  • Collaborating with multidisciplinary teams to improve patient outcomes.
  • Teaching and training learners (medical students and residents) and allied health personnel (including community health and lady health workers, optometrists, nurses and technicians/technologists).
  • Initiating and leading community-based programs in areas of need in collaboration with Department of Ophthalmology and Visual Sciences, AKUH, Karachi. 

Requirements

You should have: 

  • FCPS or equivalent qualification in Ophthalmology.
  • Demonstrated clinical competence and a commitment to service excellence.
  • Experience in low-resource or rural healthcare settings will be an asset.

Eligible candidates meeting the Aga Khan University’s faculty criteria may also be considered for a joint faculty appointment at the University.
