Introduction

The Department of Pathology and Laboratory Medicine at The Aga Khan University is a dynamic academic centre which serves the diagnostic needs of the country through its clinical laboratory services that spreads across Pakistan. AKUH’s Clinical Laboratory is College of American Pathologists (CAP) accredited and caters to the need of the entire country through its tertiary lab at the main campus and 300+ specimen collection units and 13 stat labs across Pakistan.

The Department of Pathology and Laboratory Medicine consists of five major sections namely Chemical Pathology, Hematology & Transfusion Medicine, Histopathology, Microbiology, and Molecular Pathology. Each section is academically driven and is highly engaged in research and undergraduate, postgraduate teaching and training.

Responsibilities

You will be responsible to:

  • manage and maintain the director's calendar, schedule meetings and events while ensuring accuracy and efficient time management
  • provide administrative and clerical support to ensure the smooth functioning of Lab functions
  • raise material stock and personal requisition request as per departmental needs
  • coordinate with HR and other departments for scheduling interviews
  • take care of business communication including emails, presentations, drafting memos, business letters and questionnaires
  • maintain and file confidential information in personnel files of direct reports of director Lab
  • provide support in organizing meetings, workshops, and conferences for the department
  • ensure effective logistical arrangements for department meetings and prepare minutes of meetings
  • liaise with the concerned for travel arrangements, purchases, release of payments and other reimbursement matters
  • update necessary records related to international accreditation agencies i.e. CAP, JCIA.

Requirements

You should have:

  • Graduate degree from a recognized university 
  • Minimum 2 years of relevant experience
  • Excellent analytical skills
  • The ability to maintain confidentiality
  • The ability to make strong follow-ups as and when required
  • Proficient in using Microsoft applications.
