The Associate of Science in Dental Hygiene is a two-year degree programme recognised by the Higher Education Commission (HEC) in Pakistan. Aga Khan University Hospital invites applications for the position of Intern, Dental Hygienist, Associate of Science in Dental Hygiene, Department of Surgery.

Responsibilities

You will be responsible to:

  • Prepare and welcomes patients for dental hygiene treatment, briefs them on the profession, and updates their medical history for staff review.
  • perform thorough head and neck exams for cancer screening, selects appropriate materials and equipment, and ensures infection control.
  • administers dental hygiene services, including radiographs, periodontal and dental charting, scaling, polishing, and fluoride treatment.
  • instruct patients on oral hygiene techniques, provides preventive care (sealants, impressions), and offers clinical and administrative support while maintaining confidentiality.

Requirements

You must have: 

  • an Associate of Science in Dental Hygiene degree
  • 1 – 2 year related experience
  • experience coordinating a team of people in academic, research and clinical settings
  • sound conceptual knowledge of dental hygiene and ability to integrate theory into practice
  • demonstrate clinical competence as a professional dental hygienist and an effective role model.
