The Aga Khan University Hospital, Nairobi in conjunction with the Aga Khan Health Service in Uganda invites applications for the pharmacist position to be based in Kampala, Uganda.

The Pharmacist will ensure correct interpretation of prescriptions and physician orders at out-patient levels to enable accurate compounding, dispensing, patient education and handling of pharmaceutical supplies for all orders. 

• Prepare, compound and dispense drugs and other pharmaceutical supplies;
• Review written Oncology and other prescriptions for dose, drug interactions and assure that drugs are dispensed in proper manner, to maintain quality standards of the department;
• Orally explain directions for using drugs to patients, for optimum customer satisfaction;
• Communicate directly with physicians, nurses and other health care providers to relate information regarding patient drug therapy;
• Maintain prescription record, for proper maintenance of records, and retrieval;
• Maintain accurate documentation of all interventions and recommendations regards drug therapy and their outcomes; 
• Compute and record prescription charges, for financial information purposes;
• Maintain control over distribution and usage of all drugs, and strict control over usage of controlled drugs such as narcotics, for compliance with policy on dangerous drugs, and avoid misuse
• Maintain and update personal drug knowledge data base to ensure accurate provision of pharmaceutical care of general disease states
