RESEARCH ASSISTANT: DATA AND IT

Introduction

The Data and IT assistant will be required to support the study team in matters relating to data collection, participant and sample ID management, management of electronic devices, management of user accounts and supporting IT infrastructure at recruitment sites.

Responsibilities

  • Preparation of electronic devices for data collection
  • Support management of electronic databases for study data collection and laboratory sample management
  • Setup and manage user accounts for the study team
  • Manage sample and participant ID allocation
  • Support training of the study team for data collection 
  • Generation of data reports
  • Manage IT infrastructure at the research site
  • Contribute directly to participant recruitment and data collection for the study

Requirements

  • Diploma in Information Technology or related field. (e.g. Computer Science, Medical Informatics); possession of a Bachelors’ degree in Information Technology will be an added advantage, OR
  • A Diploma in Public Health, Community Health or other related field with demonstrable knowledge and experience of IT infrastructure and databases. 
  • Additional training or demonstrable competence in any/most of the following: REDcap, ODK, MS-Access, SQL-Server, MySQL, Oracle, DHIS-2, 
  • Demonstrable advanced competence in Microsoft Office.  
  • Experience in data collection for research studies or other programs, including mobile data collection tools
