The Clinical and Translational Research Incubator (CITRIC) at Medical College, Aga Khan University, has been established to transform research at the Medical College by creating a centralized space to incubate clinical and translational research projects, enabling them to become large extramurally funded programmes with significant national and international impact. The projects at CITRIC will have high impact on the populations that AKU serves, will be of highest peer-reviewed reproducible quality, will provide access to research resources and will be contextually aligned with the local needs. CITRIC will also house the Dean’s Clinical Research Fellowship (DCRF) programme along with various research centres including but not limited to, the Centre for Trauma and Emergencies and Centre for Patient Safety, Centre for Global Surgical Care.
The Centre for Patient Safety, CITRIC at Aga Khan University, Medical College, will be a new multi-disciplinary research, teaching, learning, and advocacy Centre with a mandate to investigate the conditions affecting patient care and promote systemic patient safety, identify medical errors, and help develop and implement strategies to prevent patient harm in developing countries.
