MEDICAL LABORATORY TECHNOLOGIST- HISTOPATHOLOGY

Introduction

The Medical Laboratory Technologist will ensure provision of effective, efficient, quality analytical Histopathology/cytology services in the Laboratory.

Responsibilities

  • Receive Histology and Cytology specimens for analysis and conduct tests as per request;
  • Maintain appropriate internal controls on all process;
  • Monitor and manage routine and planned preventive maintenance of equipment;
  • Perform test with maximum efficiency utilizing reagents appropriately and within expected turn-around time;
  • Communicate urgent/critical tests results and maintain appropriate documentation;
  • Observe/comply with Health and Safety requirements in the laboratory by maintaining high standards of hygiene 
  • Develop and implement standard operating procedures; in Histopathology and Cytology
  • Participate in the implementation of quality control programmes;
  • Carry out routine and specialized analysis of tests as per approved procedures;

Requirements

Applicants for the position must have a Higher Diploma in Histology /Cytology orBachelor of Science in Medical Laboratory Sciences from a recognized institution. S/he must have three (3) years relevant working experience and must be registered by the Kenya Medical Laboratory Technologists and Technician Board.
