Introduction

Since 2003, the Aga Khan University - Examination Board (AKU-EB) has played a unique and important role in improving teaching and learning at middle and secondary schools in Pakistan. As Pakistan’s first private examination board, AKU-EB develops exams, based on Pakistan’s national curriculum that rewards critical thinking and problem solving. The Board also works closely with schools to provide training, learning material and appropriate syllabi that help teachers to move away from rote instructional methods and develop students’ analytical skills. The result is graduates who are better prepared to succeed in intellectually demanding occupations and to make a positive contribution to society. 

Responsibilities

Reporting to the Manager, Business Lead, you will be responsible for upgradation project of the Examination Processing System (EPS) and working closely with project team members, Technical Lead and Project Manager, and actively participate in the EPS software development life cycle to ensure that the system developed meets the current and future Business Requirements of AKU-EB. Additionally, you will participate in system design meetings with technical lead to ensure that the system meets the specified business requirements.

You will be responsible for:

  • developing User Requirements in coordination with the relevant heads of department within AKU-EB, ensuring that it meets the current and emerging needs related to enrollment, registration, examination paper printing, conducting exams, marking, compilation, certifications and reporting
  • documenting of business processes including the algorithm required for calculations, workflows for approval and controls
  • developing functional specifications for reports, certificates, and graphs to be produced from the system
  • securing formal sign-off on all specified business requirements from relevant heads of departments and director AKU-EB
  • working on conversion and migration of legacy system data to newly developed system
  • documenting user access privileges for all stakeholders of the system
  • working on System Integration Testing and User Acceptance Testing (UAT) in coordination with heads of departments and ensure that the system developed meets the specified requirements; secure formal sign-off on the system
  • developing change management plan, ensuring that the business processes are aligned to meet the new requirements incorporated in the system
  • providing first-level of support to users post implementation. Liaise with technical lead to process Incident Reports, Special Request for data, functional changes required in the system, and changes required in user access.

Requirements

You should have:

  • a Bachelors’ Degree in Computer Science, Business Administration, or Information Management, master’s will be preferred
  • knowledge of AKU-EB business processes and reporting related to examination would be an advantage
  • the ability to use information systems
  • the ability to quickly learn new areas related to AKU-EB
  • excellent verbal and written communications, including documentation, presentations and trainings
  • the ability to build effective working relationships across teams
  • good analytical and problem solving skills; can work under pressure to meet deadlines
  • excellent planning, organizational, and time management skills
  • proficieny in Microsoft Office applications.
