Introduction

The Aga Khan University Hospital is a not-for-profit healthcare institute that offers all medical services to their patients under one roof. The Department of Oncology at Aga Khan University Hospital is a patient-centered comprehensive state-of-the-art cancer management facility. The main objective of the department is to provide first-class, leading-edge cancer services and it is equipped with 3 medical Linear accelerators, 1 HDR brachytherapy after loader, 1 conventional simulator, mold room and a PET-CT simulator. 

It will be a two-year Postgraduate Diploma in Medical Physics designed to produce highly trained personnel who can make a direct contribution to the improvement of healthcare through better radiation therapy practices. It consists of didactic courses and clinical hands-on experience related to Medical Physics. 

Responsibilities

The traineeship programme is designed to provide training in:
  • radiotherapy process
  • patient simulation setup and use of various immobilization devices
  • External Beam Radiotherapy, Brachytherapy, and special procedures in RT
  • 2-D, 3-D Conformal, Intensity Modulated Radiotherapy (IMRT), Volumetric Modulated Arc Therapy (VMAT) dose calculations using treatment planning system
  • quality controls on Linear Accelerators, Radiotherapy Simulator, and Brachytherapy machine
  • radiation protection
  • compliance with organizational policies and standards of quality care
  • research and development projects

Requirements

You should have:
  • a MSc or 4-years BS degree in Physics or Applied Physics from a recognized university
  • good interpersonal skills and an appetite for learning
  • ability to effectively work with multidisciplinary teams
  • willingness to work in shifts.
