Introduction

Aga Khan University, chartered in 1983 as Pakistan's first private international university, is committed to the provision of education, research, and health care of international standard relevant to Pakistan. The Department of Pathology and Laboratory Medicine at The Aga Khan University is a dynamic academic centre which serves the diagnostic needs of the country through its clinical laboratory services that spreads across Pakistan. AKUH’s Clinical Laboratory is College of American Pathologists (CAP) accredited and caters to the need of the entire country through its tertiary lab at the main campus and 300+ specimen collection units and 13 STAT labs across Pakistan. The Department of Pathology and Laboratory Medicine consists of five major sections, namely Chemical Pathology, Blood Transfusion, Histopathology, Microbiology, and Molecular Pathology. Each section is academically driven and is highly engaged in research and undergraduate, postgraduate teaching and training.

Responsibilities

You will be required to undergo a one-year training program, which includes classroom lectures and bench-side training to provide in-depth knowledge of Blood Bank, Clinical Chemistry, Hematology, Histopathology, Microbiology, Molecular Pathology and Outreach Labs. 

Requirements

You should have:

  • A 4-year BS degree in Medical Laboratory Technology (MLT) is required, while a master’s degree in a related discipline will be preferred. An additional master’s degree in the same field will be considered an advantage
  • minimum first division or a CGPA of 3.0 & above (or equivalent); additionally, the relevant degree should have been awarded during the year 2023 till 2025
  • willingness to work in shift duties (morning, evening, and night) and transfer to any region as per service needs
  • good interpersonal skills
  • ability to effectively work independently as well as in teams.

The selection process includes written assessments and interviews of shortlisted candidates. A monthly stipend will be paid during the training program to all successful trainees.

This is a one-year basic laboratory traineeship program. On successful completion of the training, a certificate will be issued to the successful candidates.
