About Aga Khan University

Aga Khan University (AKU) is an institution  of academic excellence that is also an agent of social development. As part of the Aga Khan Development Network, AKU is a private, autonomous university that  promotes human welfare through research, teaching and community service initiatives. 

The University plans to add new campuses, programmes and facilities in East Africa  broadening its focus from the health sciences and education to the liberal arts and graduate professional education.

AKU is currently preparing the necessary documentation and other measures required to start construction of the University Centre in Nairobi, comprising of three levels of basement, two multi-storey buildings of twelve and seven floors respectively.

As a prelude to commencing construction, expressions of interests are invited from construction companies that have proven track record for construction of high-rise institutional projects including structural, civil, finishing, services and infrastructure works.​


Scope of Works

The scope will include sub-structure and superstructure works including structural frame, civil works, finishing, mechanical, electrical and plumbing (MEP), and building management systems.


Pre-Qualification Requirements

Companies to provide

  • Letter of interest indicating the project reference

  • Company background/profile

  • Detailed company information with evidence of registration and license with a minimum of seven years existence and relevant experience

  • Audited financial statements for the last three years

  • Detailed list of similar work performed and year completed

  • Reference letters from three major projects/clients

  • List of key management and technical personnel including their CVs with name/details of project manager assigned to the job

  • Additional documents: Value Added Tax (VAT) Certificate, Valid Tax Compliance Certificate and Form CR12

No payment will be made for costs incurred in the preparation and submission of a proposal in response to this pre-qualification exercise. Please note that proposals sent via email will be disqualified.​​
