About the session
The session aims to raise awareness about the Nursing Now global campaign and its objectives. It will also enable the participants to understand how nurses and midwives in Pakistan can mobilize themselves into action through the recently launched Nursing Now Pakistan group.

Global Health Consultant - Nursing Now Global Campaign
Dr Catherine Hannaway is trained in the UK as a Registered Nurse, Midwife and Registered Health Visitor, and has worked in senior leadership positions widely across the National Health Service in England, as well as extensively overseas.
Working with Lord Nigel Crisp, Baroness Mary Watkins and a global board of renowned international experts, Catherine set up and launched the 3-year global campaign Nursing Now
, aimed at strengthening Nursing across the world. As part of this role, Catherine has travelled extensively around the world helping countries and organisations to set up national and local Nursing Now initiatives – in particular focusing on leadership development, as well as increasing the capability and leadership skills of young nurses. She now works as a consultant to the global campaign, which runs in close collaboration with the World Health Organisation (WHO) and the International Council for Nurses.
Catherine has a wealth of experience in designing and delivering whole systems public health leadership and improvement programmes. She trained in improvement methodologies at the Institute of Healthcare Improvement (IHI) in Boston, USA and has undertaken international healthcare improvement and leadership development work in the UK and many countries around the world.
Prior to working on the Nursing Now campaign, for the past 10 years Catherine worked as National Programme Director at the Centre of Public Policy and Health at Durham University (a WHO Collaborating Centre), designing and delivering numerous national and international public health systems leadership programmes and working globally with the World Health Organization designing and delivering ‘Health in All Policies’ training - including Suriname, Uzbekistan, Copenhagen, Antigua, Jamaica and the UK.
Catherine is an experienced qualified executive coach and mentor and works with a range of individuals and organisations on personal and team development.
