Pakistan has the highest disease burden of turberculosis in the Eastern Mediterranean region and fifth highest burden of tuberculosis in the world. There has been rapid advancement in the diagnosis and treatment of tuberculosis, especially in drug resistance. However, each test has its own caveats; proper interpretation of results is essential in planning patient management.
