- explain what a critical incident entails in the context of teaching;
- provide examples of specific incidents from your classroom for reflection; and
- use different strategies to interpret and analyse critical incidents in teaching.

Dr Sherwin Rodrigues, is an Assistant Professor at AKU-IED, Pakistan. He earned his doctorate from the University of Oxford, Department of Education, UK. His doctoral thesis explored English Language teachers’ use of portfolio assessment to profile and evaluate their students’ process approach to composition writing in primary classrooms in Pakistan. Dr Rodrigues has been a teacher and a teacher educator for more than a decade. His area of expertise is classroom assessment with particular emphasis on the use of alternative classroom assessment techniques to promote students’ learning across subjects and grade levels.
